Convinced that his bad behaviour is the reason his mother cries all the time, Rico (10 years old), feels terribly alone. When he hears Mrs Rodriguez tell of a miracle she witnessed many years ago at a statue of the Madonna he becomes obsessed, convinced that if he too can witness the same miracle then the turmoil which is tearing his family apart will be healed.
